Well it’s been a while since I updated this blog, and there’s a sizable update to be had:
I will no longer be leaving in January. I have chosen to postpone my trip until July.
It was a severely stressful decision, but once July was chosen, I felt tremendous peace with my choice. It was painful to opt out of the team that I had already bonded with over Facebook, and I always hate to postpone a goal. And quite frankly, I loath the idea of not being home for Christmas next year! *sniffs pathetically*
But eventually I realized that yes, God wants me to go on this mission trip, but I don’t think He really cares WHEN. I made all that up myself; pressuring myself to go as soon as possible, (as I usually do) when, in fact, July is definitely the wiser, more sensible option.
Now there’s more time to get ready, more time to get my business turned over to new temporary management, more time to raise the funds, and even more time for my family to adjust to the idea of me being gone for 11 months (and over Thanksgiving/Christmas)
And have I mentioned that the new route I’ve chosen will be spending a month in Jamaica?! Yeah. I’m pretty excited for that one 😉 (I know, I know, but forgive me for a just a little bit of self-centered excitement here)
