Who likes to talk about money? I know I don’t. It’s an awkward and touchy subject. Growing up, my family never struggled or did without much; but, as an adult I have always been worried about having money in the bank. I feel the need to save and not spend, to be conservative and not splurge. The income I make gets piled away in an account and sits there for “just in case of emergency” situations. I am guilty of storing up my money for selfish reasons. But God calls us to put our hope in HIM, not money.

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who RICHLY PROVIDES us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be GENEROUS and WILLING TO SHARE. In this way they will lay up treasures for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so they may take hold of the life that is truly life. 1 Timothy 6:17-19

I was watching a sermon about giving and this passage came up. It spoke to me on a personal level. I am guilty of being arrogant with my wealth. I store it away as a safety net for hard times. But God wants us to put our hope in Him. He wants us to trust that He will provide RICHLY to each of us. He commands us to do good with our resources He provides to us, to be generous in our giving to those in need, and to do so with a willing heart to share.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously… And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6, 8

The takeaway?? GOD WILL PROVIDE! Be generous with what He has blessed you with and He will continue to bless you generously. I am writing this as a reminder to myself! I trusted God in this calling to the mission field, but now He is calling me to trust Him with (ALL) my finances. Money is a not a fun conversation topic, but it can be an amazing resource when it is used for God’s Kingdom. I have been stubborn and tried to store up my money for myself; but, I have seen that every time I generously give, God generously gives back to me. I am making a prayerful and conscious effort to give control of my finances over to God and for Him to guide my giving: to the local church, to people in the community in need, and any other way God calls me to give.

I am also trusting that God will provide for my financial needs for this upcoming mission trip. The goal amount is way more than I can provide alone. So I am coming to y’all for support on this journey, in prayers and in finances. If you feel called by God to support me in this mission trip, you can give online on my blog site or through a mailed check. I have already seen God at work in the people I will be traveling with, (we are already a family!) and I know that God has amazing opportunities for us on this trip. I hope you prayerfully consider supporting me in this trip to be the instrument of God around the world. I appreciate all y’all and could not make this trip a reality without each and every one of you <3
