So, the fundraising deadline for the Fusion Route with the January 2017 launch came and went, and I did not meet the fundraising deadline. I felt defeated, and I was really sad about not being able to launch with the individuals I’ve gotten to know over the past few months. However, now, I am excited about the World Race all over again! I am excited to witness the change that will take place in my new friends as they begin their journeys in January. Also, I think following them will motivate me even more to get over my fear of fundraising. I still believe that God placed this desire on my heart to go, and with His help I will go!

Prayerfully, I have chosen a new route. I will launch August 2017. As of now, I will serve in the following countries: Serbia, Romania, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Lesotho, South Africa, Madagascar, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. For a brief description of each country, click here.

As mentioned in a previous post, I do not know every detail of what ministry will look like in each country, and I may not know until I arrive at the ministry site.  I do know that ministry/serving in each country could mean a variety of things. One day I could be helping build a school, praying for a community, church planting, working with orphans, or assisting with efforts to support victims of human trafficking. Ultimately, I will be sharing the love of Jesus Christ by serving others. To get an idea of what life on the world race will look like, check out these YouTube channels of previous and current racers, Julia Robertson and Dani Izac.

Of course with a new route comes new deadlines. In order to launch in August, I must fund-raise $18,017. The funds will cover the costs for the 11 month trip. This includes meals, lodging, air, land and sea travel, administrative costs, set up costs, coaching costs, and training camp costs. My new deadlines are listed below.

May 15, 2017 – $5,000

July 21, 2017 – $10,000

September 30, 2017 – $13,000

November 30, 2017 – $18,017

Let me be honest for a minute. If someone were to ask me what my biggest fear is right now, I would definitely say fundraising. That is a pretty dramatic statement (VERY DRAMATIC ACTUALLY), but fundraising is by far the most intimidating thing I have ever done! Asking for support is scary, and thinking of items that would sell is hard. Despite this, I have to put this fear aside and just do it! I know that working more, and fundraising harder will be so worth it!

I am not sure of the exact date of launch yet, but August 1, 2017 is just 261 days away! That’s just over 8 months away! Training camp, 10 days of training in Georgia, is just 206 days away! Ahhh! Crazy, right? (Can you tell I’m excited?)

Over the next 8 months I will be preparing to go by doing various fundraising activities. I will share more fundraising activities in another post.  Your support is greatly appreciated. If you would simply like to donate, you may do so by clicking Donate above or by clicking here. You may also mail a check to Adventures in Missions. What is the world race?

The World Race is a stretching journey into 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. This unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for young adults (21-35) to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom.

Why fund-raise?

Fundraising is a part of the journey and is ministry just like feeding orphans, preaching in churches, and visiting hospitals… It’s time we changed our thinking about fundraising. It’s no longer about finding and getting the money to pay for your airplane tickets. Fundraising is about connecting the entire Body of Christ to minister in every nation. As the one who is going on this trip, I am responsible for proclaiming God’s good works to those who are investing their prayers, time, and money in sending me out. I am building a network of people who are doing ministry with me and Adventures in Missions. We ask people to support us because we want to invite them to be a part of the ministry. Fundraising is about the body of Christ joining together to see God’s Kingdom come.
