Can it really be said enough?
I don't think it can. I don't think we can emphasize the importance of Jesus's blood. This is not some cute metaphor for us to ponder. It is the basis of our relationship with the God who reigns. If it was not poured out for us, if it was not submitted to death, but in the awesome power of God, overcame that death, if it was not the basis for our strength, our courage, for the righteousness being sown in our lives.
If it wasn't for the blood. Well….we'd be nowhere. Lost.
Because of Jesus's blood, we have new life. Can life exist for us without blood (literally)? NO. But we have this blood running in us. Now, I cannot claim any expertise on transubstantiation, so I won't begin to speak on it. But I do know this:
By His blood, we have a relationship with Almighty God, and by that relationship we are given the strength for the day, literally.
By that relationship, we are given grace that covers ALL our sins.
By that relationship, we are given the authority and power to be a people that God uses (though he doesn't have to) to reach the lost in this world.
So let me ask you this:
WHY do you (and I) live as though we don't have this relationship? Why do we live as though that blood wasn't poured out for us, or that it courses through our veins, making our hearts THUMP for Him?
"Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him. Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself." (1 Corinthians 6: 15,17,19)
What a blessing it is to not belong to myself! I don't know about you, but myself, without God, is pretty janky. So, brothers and sisters, rejoice in the fact that God has already acted in such a way that He presence pervades every part of you. Invite Him in. Invite Him to spread His light, His blood through every nook and cranny of your heart stirring, every thought and memory, through every pushup or pull up, marathon, yoga pose, whatever.
Lastly, it must be said that "for you were bought at a high price." (vs. 20)
That means that He sees you as worthy. You are wonderfully important to Him. This God, the one who paid a high price for you, this is your Abba, Father, Papa.
I encourage you to start each day with a breath given to God, with your minds and hearts knowing that your muscles, your thoughts, your heart stirrings are not your own (thankfully), but that they are set on the Holy things, which I assure you, will be of immeasurablly greater joy and peace.
