I am laughing hilariously right now. Well, inwardly. I don't know if hysterical laughter in a hotel lobby would be super appropriate right now. But let me tell you, THE WORLD RACE HAS BEGUN!
My first plane ride today to Washington D.C. consisted of a conversation with a gentleman who was on his way home to Tampa from work. I must first state this: I don't talk to others on planes. I just don't do it. And here this man is, very friendly, talking to me about his job, about some financial issues in his family with his mother and siblings. I could here him, amidst his attempts to cover up his hurt and frustration with humor, that he really wanted peace in that situation. That it was a burden that he was so tired from carrying.
Well, I'm on the Race. How am I NOT going to talk to this man?
We continued to chat for the rest of the hour long flight (thank goodness only an hour. God knows me well enough that I wasn't ready to talk to a stranger for longer than that). He was staying on the plane, but I asked to pray over him before I left. Was it some eye opening, heart melting experience for him? No, I don't think so. But as I prayed over him, that God would provide in that difficult family situation, and that God would mend those relationships, I wondered if it was having any impact. My hope and prayer is that a seed will be planted and that God would begin to prime his heart to receive the fullness of all that God wants to offer.
Finally arrived at the hotel, I am on this computer in the lobby of my hotel in Washington D.C., and I can see God already moving, already doing crazy awesome things. My parents and I pull up to this hotel after a long day of travels, and the hotel seems populated by dozens of Indian-Americans here. Apparently there is a Hindi spiritual retreat happening this weekend. This can't be coincidence. I am SURE that God has us in this hotel, during this occasion for a reason. I have placed myself in this lobby, so that God will put me in these peoples' paths. To meet with someone, to learn their story, and to be witness to how ridiculously awesome our Father is in His infinite love.
Don't wait for a set aside time to be a part of God's kingdom. Our mission is in everyone we encounter. God's work for us is NOW. You don't have to wait for a set aside "mission trip" We are all on our own race. Plant yourself out in the world, so that God can reveal to you all that His power is capable of in bringing people together and healing broken hearts and spirits THROUGH YOU!
