Month 5. Wow. How did we get here this quickly? It seems almost yesterday that I was hanging out in the Calcutta airport, having a jam session with Joel (pre thumb severing), Sam, Derek, and Lizi. At the same time, it seems like ages ago that I was taking bucket showers in the bathroom with Frederick the chicken to deal with the India heat, or living in an orphanage and going door to door to pray for people in Nepal. Shoot, Thailand hardly registered more than a bleep on the radar.
That aside, here's what Team Ascend the Hill is doing for ministry in Cambodia:
We are working with YWAM, with a Youth Development Center that focuses on teaching students English, the Bible, guitar classes, and computer skills classes. We daily wake up and start the day with a time of worship, devotion, and intercession with our ministry hosts. Our main contact, Maricel, is a Filipino woman that has been heading up this center for around 8 years. She has poured everything into this ministry, and she has loved our team so well already. Man, I thought I would lose weight after pigging out in Malaysia. NOPE. Filipino food is even better. But it's healthier too! Vegetables mom!!!
Anyway, we also spend mornings going on prayer walks through different villages, and we will be teaching preschool in the weeks to come, as well.
Please continue to pray for my team, for greater intimacy with the Father and with each other. And please pray for Maricel. She works so hard, and we are blessed for a chance to encourage her. Pray that the Lord will renew her spirit and that life will flow out of her into these students as she depends upon the Lord. She is seeking for part time staff to help her out at the YDC, and for additional staff to teach other classes.
Thank you for your prayers. I look forward to sharing with you what God is doing in our lives and through this ministry this month.

Teaching basic English in the afternoons from 4-6pm.

Michael has been great teaching across language barriers. He only teaches the students worship songs.

Teaching is a team sport here at the YDC!

All work and no play makes Chip a dull boy…
