On September 1st, I hosted my 1st World Race fundraiser at Sonic, selling $5 coupon cards from car to car in the scorching Texas heat. It was tough in the beginning…people pretended to be on their phones and didn't roll down their windows or just shoo me away while giving me dirty, angry looks (yeah…that was fun). Very discouraging and infuriating to say the least. Asking for $$$ is pretty tough (never liked doing it even before applying for the WR). However…
$126 was raised! Thank God! I was out there from 3pm-5.45pm, but refreshments in the form of Ocean Waters, Cherry Limeades and Cranberry Sprites were helpful. That place really is the ultimate drink stop. Anyway…
I want to give a HUGE thanks to Brittany, Rosenda and of course my brother Obidi and his friend Justin for coming to help me sell the cards and just being there for support especially near the end. It was very encouraging and gave an extra boost of energy to last until almost 6pm.
Another GRANDE thanks to Sonic manager Jose!!! I used to work at Sonic the summers in between college, and I'm beyond grateful he gave me the cards to sell and the time at his store to hop from car to car bringing in funds for my World Race account.
