Hurts.

Yup. We all have them whether we realize it or not. But if we don’t deal with hurts properly, they don't go away. The pain accumulates within our hearts. It’s just where unresolved pain goes to reside.

Hurts compromise our ability, our relationships, r’ship with God, mental, relational, spiritual and emotional health. Satan causes our pain to become stirred up, exaggerated and perpetuated.

But, Jesus came so we can be set free from that.

***So, here's a kinda brief summary of the sermon ("The Hurt Whisperer" by Jimmy Evans):

The worse thing about pain is not the acute mental or emotional pain. It’s the message that stays with you.

Satan uses negative circumstances (like betrayal, rejection, abuse, untimely deaths, divorce, etc.) to trip you. When you’re weak, he will pounce on you like a lion.

He speaks into our minds and hearts as ourselves and God. He comes in disguise always, to deceive with his craftiness/trickery and his subtlety. He comes into our lives when we don’t know he’s there.

He lied to Eve and Adam. He brings doubt on God’s Word. He whispered, “You’re naked. There’s something wrong with you. Defective. Strange. Ugly. Shameful.” But, they thought it was their thoughts.  And in shame, to Satan’s pleasure, Eve and Adam hid. But, God never said anything about Eve and Adam being naked. That lie did not originate with God. Satan infected their minds with that lie.

P.S. Just because a thought matches your emotional disposition does not mean it’s from God. It’s not. Don’t be fooled.

If you don’t understand how the devil works, he can ruin your life. Keep your from your destiny. He can keep pains and problems perpetuated to hinder and sabotage you until you understand how to defeat him.

Ephesians 4.26 says hurt produces anger. If you allow anger to remain, devil will speak into it. If you have long-term anger, you will have wrong thoughts in your mind especially if it’s toward someone. It’s gives foothold to Satan, and he loves it.

Unresolved hurts from life produce faulty messages within us that keep us from God and His best for us.

Here are some examples of lies from Satan
-If people really knew me, they will reject me.
-God loves other people more than me.
-People will always disappoint me.
-I’ll never succeed.
-Something bad is gonna happen to me and my family.
-God can’t use me.

Yet there are ways to destroy Satan's lies that limit our lives:
1. Expose the thought to the Light. Tell the truth about it. Satan puts shame and fear around it so we won’t talk about it. We hide from people, ourselves and God. Suffer in silence. Keeping it in the darkness, his domain. Anything in the Light belongs to God. In the Light, God has authority and destroys the lie.

2. Expel any word that doesn’t come from God. We have authority over Satan through Christ. Jesus and Satan fought in the wilderness with thoughts…not weapons. Reject the thought. 2 Corinth 10.4 says "Cast down arguments. Bring every thought to the captivity of Christ." Don’t let rogue thoughts rattle around in your mind. They will take YOU captive. Make the thought listen to Jesus.

3. Express my agreement with God’s Word. I’m worth the blood of Jesus. I’m an overcomer. He’s for me, not against me. Don’t be a parrot to the devil’s lies. It will change the way you think and live.

And don't hide or supress your pain from God. The silly thing about hiding from God is that you are hiding from your Healer. When He touches pain, it doesn’t hurt. It goes away. He is gently and humble. He’s the only person who can heal  the wounds of my past. You’ll be blessed when you bring your pain to God. Emotional pain will heal with God. It’s not like a physical wound that eventually goes away and heals on its own.

Also, take the responsibility to God for your behavior. You're not a victim or a pawn or helpless. You have a choice in how you respond. Do not blame transfer. And show mercy from God for yourself and those who have hurt you.  Forgive yourself and those ppl.

Moreover, the people who hurt you are hurting themselves. It does not justify what they do but it sure explains a lot. And because ypu don’t know everything ppl go through, you're  not qualified to be their judge, only God is.

And be honest before God. Talk about your hurts with God. God is not your problem, God is your solution. God is not looking for a reason to reject. He found a reason to love you in Jesus.
