The creator of the universe, Yahweh, gives his beloved creation, you and me, a paint brush, paint, and a canvas and says, “Paint away.” The artist asks, “What should I paint? What should this life you’ve given me look like? What scenery should I create?” Yahweh says, “I’ve put so much creativity in you. Paint what you want, but I’m going to put my son Jesus in front of you as you paint and I want your life to look like his.”

Hurray!!! The Columbus, Ohio Fire Fighter Department sent me a letter stating that they want me to go through the next Fire Academy. Wow! They finally called me to be a Fire Fighter.

But….
I’m on the world race.
I’ve recently been fully funded!
They’ve asked me to be a Squad Leader.

Ahhhhh, why God!?

What I’m giving up:

I applied for the Fire Fighter position in 2009. I waited two years (2011) to take the three part exam. I invested money on classes on how to pass the exam. A little over 6,000 people took the exam and they only chose the top 150. It’s taken 3 years now (2014) since the test to receive a phone call. If I say no now, they remove me from the list and I have to go through the whole process again…..

For far too long I’ve viewed God as someone who gives me choices at times and says you better make the right choice or else. Or else your life won’t turn out good. I thought God had this set of blue prints for my life, and if I made the “wrong” choice then I just messed up the whole structure.

What I choose:

I’ve prayed for many years to be a man who lives by faith. Faith in Yahweh. Fire Fighting is something I thought would be neat since I was a child, but it isn’t what I really want to do with my life. I viewed it as a very secure, safe career as far as financial stability goes. I want to pursue other things, but I haven’t because of fear. I’ve allowed fear of the unknown to dictate my decisions in the past, and I was about to again.

No!!! I choose to stay. I choose to live by faith. I choose to live out the passions and desires Yahweh has put on my heart.

When we are faced with a choice, a fork in the road, it gives us an opportunity to choose the people we want to be. It gives us an opportunity to become the authors of our lives or the artists of our lives. Choices are from God.

I love you Jesus!!!!!
