I love the way that life here has become that of a song…but not just any song. Think of your absolute favorite one in the entire world and how you have probably become familiar with every single lyric but you still love belting out every.single.word. That’s how I feel here. I am familiar with life here now, but I still absolutely love being in every single moment of it; enjoying every single moment as I would every single lyric of my favorite song. Sometimes even pressing repeat 4 or 5 times without any shame whatsoever.
I have enjoyed waking up every morning [to my beautiful alarm clock, Jordan] to the most amazing coffee I have ever had and breakfast that could quite possibly be served to Kings and Queens.
I have enjoyed seeing these beautiful faces greet me every time we step foot into the village of Bethel; being dragged in every which direction.
I have enjoyed spending time with this beautiful woman who minister to me and my team on a daily basis; reminding us who God is and how much He loves us.
I have enjoyed learning boldness in door-to-door ministry from this woman…and a few modeling techniques.
I have enjoyed Sunday evenings at church when we have the privilege to lead worship…and the few people in the crowd videoing “the gringos.”
I have enjoyed when things don’t go as planned because I find that in those moments the most beautiful things happen…and sometimes dance-off’s.
I have enjoyed the hospitality of every single person we have met. From getting offers to ride their horses, to free vegetables, to Spanish lessons, to standing while we talk so they can sit, and just the extreme desire to learn and remember our names. It’s absolutely lovely.
I have enjoyed meeting this man, Juan Carlos, who drives us absolutely everywhere, and who is always full of joy. Especially hearing him say everyday “Okay, people let’s go” in his heavily Spanish accented English.
I have enjoyed laughing my head off with this crazy woman. From our first encounter when she told me I should shower because I smelt bad, to dancing the wobble together, to deep conversations about our lives, and just enjoying each other’s presence.
I have enjoyed meeting the family of Veronica and falling absolutely in love with her daughter, Yaslin. I have enjoyed going on many adventures with her…dancing in the rain, sliding in the mud, breaking into people’s yards [oopsie] and stealing flowers, crossing the [probably not the most sanitary] river and up a muddy hill to the most beautiful view, joining in prayer with her mother for churches to be planted, and then receiving a handwritten letter from her telling me I am a beautiful princess for God.
I hope you see that this blog is more than just about a few of my personal favorite memories’ it’s a reminder to everyone to make the most of every single moment you have in this life because it will pass you by in an instant. So soak it up, revel in it, saturate yourself in it, press “repeat” if you want to; just enjoy it. Life is a beautiful thing if you just take the time to appreciate it.
