Abandonment: the place where you let go of what you’ve known.

This Year I Abandon:

The right to be right.

The right to have internet 24/7.

The right to eat what I want when I want.

The right to long, hot showers.

The right to love people how I want to.

The right to what time I wake up.

The right to a plethora of meaningless things.

The right to a phone.

The right to come and go as I please.

The right to hold in my feelings.

The right to “my” stuff.

The right to be alone.

The right to have all of the information.

The right to complacency.

The right to a bed.

The right to being comfortable.

Lord, I relinquish all of these things to you; I should not feel entitled to any of it. I pray for reckless abandonment to breed reckless dependence on You. I pray that this doesn’t just last the 11 months of the Race, but for my entire life. The only thing I should feel entitled to in my life is You. Amen.
