This is my Squad Leader, Amie Beth Beadling. Amie Beth was an elementary school teacher before the Lord called her into something new: the World Race. She left her career, life of comfort and financial independence behind for a life full of adventure and risk. She was 33. All of these amazing steps and risks led her to become the Apprenticeship Program Manager of CGA (A second year discipleship program run by Adventures in Mission) and as of July, a Squad Leader for the World Race! She chose to leave her career for a second time because the Lord told her to. I’ve gotten to know Amie Beth pretty well over the last 4 months and each piece I learn just reveals more of the Father’s heart to me. One thing Amie Beth is passionate about is discipleship. When she chose to Squad Lead, she took on the responsibility of pouring into my team and giving all the wisdom all the time. Before the Race, I had never experience discipleship outside of my home. Somebody reaching out and intentionally wanting to know me in an effort to push me closer to the Father. This was a foreign concept and felt strange to me but Amie Beth made it natural. It isn’t always a huge “CHESSIE LET ME DROWN YOU IN OVERWHELMING WISDOM AND TRUTH”
Sometimes it’s more like “Hey, I see this gift in you and it’s beautiful.”
What I’m trying to say in writing this Squad Leader Feature is this; you’re probably an adult. You probably know a young man or woman that needs a mentor. You definitely have good fruit to give away to that young man or woman. So just do it. Amie Beth is a great example of what it looks like to disciple on the daily and I’m so happy to know her! My heart for you is that reading this would bring someone to mind that you’ve been mentored by or maybe someone you’d like to disciple! Don’t wait. Consider this your cue. Thank the people in your life that have molded you into who you are and thank the Lord for placing them there. Thank the Lord that you’ve been granted a position of responsibility to pour into the people around you with all the little nuggets of wisdom you have and all the gifts the Lord has granted you. Let’s call each other higher in the New Year!
