Since December, I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of getting to know the group I’ll be traveling and serving with. One thing that was quickly apparent is that we are all SO different!! We all have different denominations, upbringings, cities, lifestyles, accents, hair, clothes, music taste, movies we love. In my experience, this does not work well in a large group of 18-22 year old people. In a “normal” setting, these differences would drive us apart. I think it’s safe to safe that this is not the case with our group. So what makes this group of young adults different from the majority of our peers? What makes us get along so well?

We share one common goal; to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

We all desire to spread Christ’s love as far as we can.

We have all answered the same call, by the same God, with the same purpose.

Our wordly differences just don’t matter when we share a cause such as this! Our cause is too important to let our petty disagreements get in the way of the main goal. After all, how can we welcome people into the body of believers if the body is divided?

I can’t even type fast enough to capture just how excited I am to get to training camp and start this mission trip experience with all of them.

I challenge anyone reading this to stop and ask themselves if there is anything holding them back from loving their fellow believers. Then ask yourself, is that reason enough to lose sight of the mission God has entrusted you with?

1 Peter 3:8

“Now finally, all of you should be like-minded and sympathetic, should love believers, and be compassionate and humble, not paying back evil for evil or insult for insult but, on the contrary, giving a blessing, since you were called for this, so that you can inherit a blessing.”
