can’t believe that I am admitting this:

manual labor is so satisfying.

at home, i am the last person to voluntarily go outside
and help with yard work of any kind.
it’s true. won't do it. ask my mom.
but here in peru, there is something wonderful about it.

the albergue is massive!

everything about the Inca Link International vision for serving Latin American youth is large-scale.
thus, it is exactly my kind of culture – big faith for big dreams.

there are endless amounts of little projects N squad has been assigned over this month.
one group worked on wiring the electricity in a building.
i personally have pulled weeds and shrubs, coming toe-to-toe with black widow spiders.
i went to "Narnia", which is a secret garden behind regular-looking doors in the walls of the compound.
all the while, i shoveled and wheelbarrowed a literal ton of sand,
probably dropped off by other mission teams in specific areas during their visits.
i moved rocks from one pile to another pile.
i now care about the difference between rock and concrete or dirt and sand.
i chiseled stone, piece by piece, off the intern house and thought that if i ever went to prison, I would do anything but rock quarry duty, if that still even exists.
and i'll never forget the day i helped finish the brand-new sand driveway under the hot midday sun!

like the albergue, i am still a work in progress.
but i can already see how acting out of my little faith,
even when i want to quit from exhaustion,
will grow a sanctuary for children.

God has an incredible sense of humor.
there is no telling what He is building on the inside of me!
