i love surprises.
love them.
unscripted, who can predict them?
one of my good friends and i
have been separated for months.
truly, way too long.
distance. kids. health. whatever else.
even vacation could not sync our schedules.
but today, she showed up at my job.
apparently she just walked in like she owned the place!
unfortunately, i wasn't there.
but i got a hilarious text that it happened.
not to be outdone,
i later surprised her at home in my old clothes and dirty shoes,
ready to grapple with her house and yard chores.
not because i owed her a huge favor.
she needed the help.
i needed the kinesthetic outlet.
we needed the quality time together!
we talked as we swept.
we painted as we cackled.
we shouted as we vacuumed.
proud to say, we are now doubly exhausted and her act is all straightened up.
the real wonder is how expectancy in Him gives way to the unexpected…
thank You for enduring friendships.
the kind where when stuff hits the fan,
we come together,
press in and laugh.
to that, i say, more please!
in Jesus' name,
AMEN
