i only like politics for the conversations it sparks.

every election, since i was a kid,
that i can remember,
has been insanely thrilling.
the high-dollar campaigns, the yard signs, the debates…
values become hot-button issues.
nay-sayers are cold-blooded fools.
if i could stay awake for the weeks prior to the Big Day,
that would be a dream come true.

all of a sudden, people have all this fiery passion.
not about who cut them off in traffic going 80ml/hr.
or who won the game last Saturday by whatever spread.
people debate and negoiate about the future they want to see:
in healthcare, taxation, education, green energy…
things that are actually relevant during our time on Earth.

makes me wonder,
when people will vote for Grace? myself included.
Grace is bigger than hope and change.
Grace will make you believe in more than America.
get ready, because in the years to come, God promises this:
people will come from miles around
and stand in line for hours
for Him, not red, white and blue stickers.

Father,
thank You for a voice and a will.
i can choose Your authority.
bless my leaders.
bless my country.
in Jesus' name,
AMEN
