because i made it a point
to be more aware of the craziness,
i saw all i needed to see

on the sidewalk,
outside my local Best Buy,
there have already appeared,
much like weeds,
squatters of all ages,
in tents of all sizes,
waiting for 5AM Friday.

it was funny to think about
how these folks can line up,
several days before,
ready to skip meals at home,
comfort and AC,
despite the risk of death by stampede,
for a chance at discounted merchandise.

and then,
the Holy Spirit reminded me
how easily i could
daily experience
His guaranteed presence
and find sufficiency
of all my needs
doing so much less.

where is that drive to go to God for what is necessary in life?
i am talking about myself, of course.
Black Friday shoppers know what they need.
and where to get it.
they have the printed ads to prove it.

Father,
thank You for providing.
i can count on You
to give what i need,
when i need it,
and not a moment early.
let me not rush
or push
or force
what must happen
as naturally as i breathe.
as You expect,
so shall i.
in Jesus' name,
AMEN
