let me just be clear:

you will not catch me picking up the habit of running for fun anytime soon! still, my very good friend Fernando invited me to go running with him this morning, and because i had no real way of explaining in Spanish that running is for crazy folks, i was up jogging long before our rooster at 5AM!

but that is what family does for one another, especially brothers and sisters in Christ. i feel so blessed to have a heart for daily trying my best. Fernando is my friend who lives and works at the mission school. He’s 23 years old and  has the patience only God can give for a team of seven spirited girls. he knows even less English than I know Spanish so it is a true miracle that God has set us to the same wavelength. all we do is crack up laughing at our embarrassing converastaions. he is amazing at following my train of thought before I can get to the point where I need to ask questions to continue speaking to him. bonus: he is a cook. i should just say chef because even without a professional education, he has such a command of our kitchen. i don´t know if he fully understands the massive void that he fills in my life out here in the jungle. it pains me that i cannot bring him with us for the rest of the Race, which is definitely not at all possible. period. i don´t know why i keep wishing it to be so. he has been telling us since day 2 that he is leaving for home to visit his family but no surprise, he can’t bear say adios for good.

i cannot believe how much i have grown to adore him as a friend. he is truly like my little brother.
