i get really jazzed at the beginning of every month.
so jazzed that i will actually say the word "jazzed" in a sentence.
i’ve been this way since I was a kid.
do a little dance. sing a little song.
leap in the air and activate my extra life, just like Super Mario.

March is a new month with new possibilities.

first new experience of the month: creative worship.
my initial reaction when I heard we would do this a few weeks ago was:
‘awesome! I’m not musically inclined so I can just sit there! I can just sit back and relax’
not so. ihe essence of worship is
bringing the best that you have to God, no matter your lack.
when you offer up adoration to Him,
you leave yourself open to receive directly from the Father’s hands.

i wish i could say God and i have long ongoing conversations with overarching themes that last for weeks until their completion, but that’s not true. i typically get a passage based on the numerical day and sometimes using the name of the last person i talked to. and because that can only work about 20 percent of my bible study time, i simply beg God to just put something, anything at all, into my spirit! that being said, this is what He gave me:

19This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” 20And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” 21They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” 22Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” 23He said, “I am A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,’
as Isaiah the prophet said.”

John 1:19 – 23 NASB

and the prayer of a good guy named Patrick,
who apparently is also a saint in certain circles of his friends:

I arise today

Through the strength of heaven;

Light of the sun,

Splendor of fire,

Speed of lightning,

Swiftness of the wind,

Depth of the sea,

Stability of the earth,

Firmness of the rock.

I arise today

Through God's strength to pilot me;

God's might to uphold me,

God's wisdom to guide me,

God's eye to look before me,

God's ear to hear me,

God's word to speak for me,

God's hand to guard me,

God's way to lie before me,

God's shield to protect me,

God's hosts to save me

Afar and anear,

Alone or in a mulitude.

Christ shield me today

Against wounding

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left,

Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,

Christ in the eye that sees me,

Christ in the ear that hears me.

I arise today

Through the mighty strength

Of the Lord of creation.

we talk a lot about our identity here on the Race.
within our teams.
within our squad.
in the lives we all willingly left in the United States.
it’s important to understand who you are and how you tick.

to be honest, I’m tired of talking about it.
maybe that makes me one of the weird ones.
i get really bothered when i talk about myself.
for real. i will change the subject in a heartbeat.

it justs makes more sense for me to shift the focus to Jesus.
i only want to know myself in light of Him.
