In honor of one of my most favorite American holidays,
here are 10 things I am thankful for this year!
10. My Gran SHOVING crystal light packets in my purse at launch. I didn’t think I would want them, since I don’t use them back home. But, let me tell you, I have really enjoyed having those when all we had was warm water.
9. ICE. I had ice today for the first time in 3 months…it was riveting.
8. My car, and being able to get where I need to be, but also being able to ride around for fun. That’s a huge blessing that we don’t even think about, y’all!
7. My phone, and being able to keep in touch with my people back home.
6. My family supporting me going to college, and on top of that, that they are able and willing to help me pay for it.
5. My job back home, and that it is one I actually enjoy.
4. The people around me who push me closer to the Lord, back home and on the field.
3. Quality time with my family. I never realized HOW MUCH I love hanging out with my family until I got on the field. I’m so so thankful for my weekly dinners with Granny Dean, watching cheesy romantic Christmas movies with Pa and Gran, randomly showing up at Trent, Liz, and Kate’s for dinner (and a few episodes of The Office), and going to the hair salon with my mom.
2. The things that I always take for granted. My bed, warm showers, an abundance of food, a closet full of clothes that I got to pick out, central heating and cooling…
And, Number One:
That I have a relationship with the Almighty God. That I can call Him Papa. And, that anytime I call upon His name, not only does He listen, but He responds.
The last three may be the “cliche answers”. But, the race has definitely helped me realize just how much of a blessing each one of those three things are, and how much I take them for granted.
What are you thankful for today?
