The movie “yes man.” Is about a guy who took on the challenge of saying “yes” to every opportunity given him, believing it would bring him happiness and fulfillment in life. He did this for a year with sometimes and good and sometimes not so good outcomes.

This sounds like an outrages and silly challenge. But this is actually something God wants each of us to do. Just day “YES.”

Ever wonder what kind of a guy Abraham was? He was a “Yes man.”
I mean, he packed up his family, his earthly possessions in a big unwieldy caravan, and wandering from country to country—without even knowing where he was going. Just because God asked him to.

Fast forward a few years. This same man took his son Isaac up a mountain, bound his hands, and actually raised a knife to kill him. Because God asked him to.

“Yes, Lord.”

He was a yes man, and God blessed his life abundantly because of it!

I am a lot like Abraham this year. I believe God asked me to leave my job, my home, my family, my relationships, raise  support….I said YES to only bringing a backpack of things and journeying through third world countries this year.
It sounds like a crazy this for a 29 year old to do, right? How is this settling down and creating a future for myself? This is crazy in my own eyes, but in Gods eyes, it’s an incredible adventure He is going to grow my faith through. Just like Abraham.

I’m beginnging to understand, the closer we are to Jesus, the more we will be able to hear His voice and say yes to opportunities.  If we aren’t close to him, we won’t be able to know what he is trying to tell us or ask us, and we will miss out on amazing things. I know I have missed out on a lot, and my faith has remained small because I haven’t been able to say “yes“ to his will for my life. He wants to show me miracles just like he did for Abraham, but he can’t if i don’t start saying “yes” to his will and challenges for me.

I’m tired of missing out on the adventurous, daring, miraculous, scary but rewarding life the Lord has for me! I want to say “YES.” And trust, just like Abraham.

Below is my team and I singing the song “YES LORD” in church this past Sunday.
