I can’t believe my time in Africa is coming to an end. This time next week I will be on a plane heading to Cambodia! This month in Ghana has flown by, but I wanted to share some things we have been able to be a part of!

This month my team has  been staying in the town of Sunyani, Ghana. We have partnered with Elim city church and have been doing ministry with them and their surrounding community. My team was given a “community” to reach out to this month. It’s a small dirt road with various shops and homes along it. Each day we go there and meet the people who live and work along the road. We chat with individuals and get to know them, hear their story, and share with them about Jesus and his love. Most of these people simply invite us in to what they are doing, and that has been amazing to be a part of!

The first day we went into this community, we came across a small technical university. The headmaster invited us into his school said he wanted his students to hear the gospel. What an invitation! Next thing we know we are standing in front of the students and started a panel of questions and answers about the Bible. Some of the questions included :

“What makes Adam different then God?”

 “How are God and Jesus the same person?”

”Why does God allow death and poverty to good christian people?”

These questions are hard, questions I still have some of  the same questions. But God was able to give us HIS answers to these questions. This was completely out of my element. But at the end of our panel, nine students gave their  lives to Christ!

Another person we came across was Mercy. She runs a food stand at the corner of our Little dirt road community. We immediately bonded with her. She exudes joy and was so thirsty for community and love. She knows Jesus and shared with us her story and how she has been feeling lonely. She also talked about her dream of making her food stand a restaurant so she could better serve her community and provide for her family more. Through YOU, my supporters, we were able to raise $400 for Mercy’s dream! We will be sharing this with her tomorrow and I will share her response via video with you. Thank you, thank you, thank You!!!!

A few days ago We were invited into a Muslim school to observe classes, and pray and encourage the teachers. The headmaster of the school was very interested in talking about our faith. He said,  “I have read the Bible and AND the Koran. Have you? I think it’s important to know both sides.”

It is important to know both sides. How do I think I am going to be able to converse with Muslims when I am pretty ignorant to what they believe? This is just another thing I have been processing, and once again feel so unworthy and inadequite to even be here. I can get discouraged easily when I think about it, how little I know. But God has been able to use me, and my team in spite of our lack of knowledge and preparation. Simply because we are willing. The disciples werent ready when they were sent out, they were just willing, And Jesus used them to do amazing things! The gospel is simple;

His grace covers me. This is all I know.

All I need.

Its amazing the things we have been able to be a part of, simply by visiting and being present in the community. Simply serving others in spite of our lack of knowledge and understanding. Simply by loving people.

We ARE able. God enables us.

These are just some of the things we have been a part of this month. Elim City church has been so welcoming and hospitable. We have had electricity and running water most of the time which is a huge blessing!

Next week we are leaving Africa and traveling to a new continent-Asia!!!! I am so excited for this next month of ministry-once we arrive in Seim Reap, my team and I will be traveling two hours (by canoe!) to a floating village in a rural community in Battambang, Cambodia. (No electricty or running water here.) I will post another blog with the details of this in a few days! But I am SO excited about our placement.
