India has been AMAZING! A Restful and fulfilling month. After the last few months of living in the woods and leach filled hiking everywhere, This was a much needed break.
Coming in to India I heard it was going to be another hard month physically, so I came mentally prepared for that, and begging God to equip me to go without running water for yet another month.
Needless to say, this month has been quite the opposite. And, We just found out we can share about our host and ministry, so I’m so excited to share what’s been going on this side of the world! This blog is going to be an overview of the ministries we are involved with here, and I will share more specific stories later on. What’s also amazing is they speak English here!!!!! That has completely changed up the game for us, not hanging to work through an interpreter is so freeing.
We are staying in Bangalore, India with an incredible family, Pastor Paul and momma Anita They have two children (faith and junior) and dozens of other “adopted children.”
They have a lovely home and it feels so wonderful to have a clean place to stay (I heard India was very dirty-not the case here. I have never felt so at home while on the race. Mom Anita has makes us feel like family, and serves us lots of coffee and even does our laundry!
Their home is also their ministry- A school that Anita runs, called Compassion in Action. This is run very similar to a homeschool set up, as she has been teaching all 19 children by herself and one other teacher. Amazing! She opens up this school for orphans and children that weren’t “good enough” for the school systems in India. Our team is helping her teach the kids during the week,
She just started a preschool program and Hannah and I get to be the first teachers of that! We have loved getting to teach these lil crazies, and they are winning my heart over.
The students who come to the school are primarily from the girls home that is also a part of Pastor Paul’s ministry. It’s a home of 19 girls saved from the streets to babies being left on their doorstep. I love this home and would love to one day adopt from it, or even come back and work there. We spend a lot of time with the girls and are beholding relationships with them.
After school Pastor Paul disciples us. We sit in the living room with chai or coffee, and just open the Bible and share And learn together. This is the first time in the race a host has really invested in our spiritual walk and well being. We have 2-3 hour talks daily about the Bible, and Just talk about the hard questions. This has been much needed, and such a blessing for my team and I. I have already grown so much in just the past two weeks from this.
We also do slum ministry in the afternoons. This slum is Behind a mall, and you see the wealth and poverty side by side. The houses are made out of literally garbage. A lady here does this ministry full time. She was a former orphans and this ministry is close to her heart. I will share more of this ministry in the coming days.
I just wanted to give you all the highlights of what we are doing this month! I have some amazing stories I will share in my next post, as well as a new “Project Dream!
Some one pictures of the month!
