I am in love.
I am in love with the floating village of Prek Toal, Cambodia.
I am in love with the tiny red treehouse that I get to live in.
I am in love with the canoe we use instead of a car for transport.
I am in love with the ”captain” of our canoe. A little boy who wears an angry bird shirt, and has smile that instantly wins you over.
I am in love with the sunrise and sunsets.
I am in love with my English students.
I am in love with the Uniqueness of life here.
I am in love with the smiles.
…I am in love.
You know when you’re n love, and you simply feel happy? Your life could be a wreck, but then you meet that someone who makes you forget about problems. They make you take your eyes off yourself and on to something else. You just know everything will be alright, and your so busy enjoying that person nothing else really matters. It doesnt make sense, and that’s what makes it so mysterious and wonderful.
That’s how I feel about my life right now. I can’t describe it, but i just know it’s so amazing and wonderful. I am, simply happy.
The floating village is so remote, it’s hard Here, it doesn’t make sense to love it! I don’t have running water, the mosquitos eat you alive, theres no stores here, crocodiles here are a REAL threat, I only have 2 changes of clothes, I sleep on the ground, it rained the other night and I couldn’t stay dry because of the holes in the roof, I kill wolf spiders that crawl through the cracks of the treehuse…
…but none of this matters, because I am in love.
We ask couples who are in love this question a lot; “How did YOU KNOW, that this was the real thing?” Most of the time they will respond with the simple, “When you know, you just know. It’s hard to put into words, you just have to experience it.“
Love doesn’t make sense a lot of the time, and that’s what makes it so magical, mysteriesous and wonderful. Jesus Love for us doesn’t make sense either. 1 John 4:10 days, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
Love is a gift, and all we have to do is except it. So for now, until I can come up with the words to tell about my time here, I will simply be in love with this place and people. And enjoy this wonderful gift of Love.
