Project dream!
This is the last project dream I will be doing On the race. Its been amazing to find and meet needs throughout this year.
This month My team and I are staying at a church in El Salvador. There are a lot of elderly people that make up the church, and they love to serve! What gets me, is the people in the church, (by american standards) are needy. They don’t have much, I would come here to help THEM. But they find others in more need. And help.
One of the ministries they invited us to join them in, is a poor community about 1 1/2 hours from here. They have a little “church” in a small one room house. They go to this area once a week and do a service, feed the people a meal and give out clothes. The “Grandparents“ of the church are in charge of this ministry. And they get there in the back a pickup truck (more on that below.)
This week they were able to get clothes donated from the US. as filled with joy as these elders were so excited to have clothes to bless others with. They excitedly sorted through them and made bags for each person in the village they help.
That afternoon, we loaded up the truck with all bags. There were so many bags I didn’t think anyone would be able to fit in the truck. But no, these zealous souls took their canes and hobbled up in the truck on top of the clothes! On the way there it started to rain ( it’s monsoon season now) and the old tarp on top of the truck leaked water all over everyone. We’re they upset? No, they just laughed and focused on keeping the clothes bags protected.
I sat there in the back of this rachet bus. Just looking at the precious souls so dedicated to kingdom work. They are elderly. It’s raining, They should be in the comfort of their home, watching tv or making cookies. But no. They were here. In the back of a rain filled chicken bus, excited to serve their community. im only here for a few weeks, but they do this EVERY WEEK.
We got to the village about two hours later. They got to work sweeping the area and setting up chairs under the trees for the service. They gave out coffee, talamales, and cookies to the people. At the end they made sure everyone had a bag of clothes to take home. All of this was done with such joy and purpose. I felt so small, but honored that these “grandma and grandpas” let us be a small part in their ministry of helping others.

So, for my last project dream-I want to fix the truck. The truck that picks up these amazing people, takes them to church, goes to the village every week, this truck makes their ministry a reality. It’s rainy season now so it rains all the time. The tarp wrap they have is old and need of replacement, there holes and tears in it and they are soaking wet by the time they arrive to church or their ministry. Can we all pitch in to give this church family a new tarp cover for the truck?
For 350$ we can make this happen. This new tarp wrap would be better quality and professionally put on to provide protection from the elements.

Pictures above-current tarp on the truck. You can see the bad condition it is in.
