Accepted. A word I had been patiently waiting to hear for months. When I got the call I was floored with emotions. I fell to the ground, I cried, I jumped up and down. Needless to say, I am SUPER excited about my next chapter of life leaving in January 2019.
So, what is the World Race?
With my trip, it is an eleven month mission trip to eleven countries to share the love of Jesus and serve others all over the world. My route is called Unscripted. It is a little different from the other routes as we will be helping people that the Holy Spirit leads us to – much like the early disciples did. My route will be traveling from Cambodia to Columbia, and a few others in between.
So, why the World Race?
From the moment i heard about the World Race, I was all in. I had this overwhelming tug that this was the next step in my life.
So a little backstory. All my life, I have loved traveling. From an early age, my family traveled a lot. Beach trips to Florida, church trips to New York, family vacations in Alaska. I think I was bitten by the travel bug by the age of 5. Fast forward several years to November 2016. A mission trip to Haiti was announced and I immediately had this overpowering tug that I needed to go. The following July, we headed for Haiti. One of my most favorite places on earth. I quickly learned why God had put this trip on my heart. I had thought God was sending me there to be a blessing and help those in need. What really happened was God blessed me with so much love, joy, and gratefulness for the smallest things. So, how does this relate to the World Race? That same tug that I felt for Haiti, I feel for the World Race. I refer to that “tug” as the True Ultimate Guide, or the Holy Spirit.
I do not know what God has in store for me in 2019, but I do know it will be exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Please continue to pray for my squad and I as we prepare for departure over the next few months.
