While we were in Cambodia, my team and I went to watch the sunset over Siem Reap. It was beautiful! I called my Aunt Vicki to video chat with her to show her the sunset too! As I got off the phone, it hit me hard that the same sun I see going down is the same sun they see rising. I’ve always known this but it was sooo real when it actually happened. Being in Southeast Asia you are more aware of how many different religions and different beliefs people really have. Some don’t believe anything, some believe in nature or energy, some believe they have to work to get to Heaven, but most people traveling are soul searching. As I was thinking about the sun, I couldn’t help but think about the only Son. My heart was broken.
If people can believe that the same sun that shines here, is the same sun that shines on my family at home. Why can’t they believe the Son is always shining?
While in Thailand, I came across a park full of sunflowers. A breathtaking moment in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. It was probably one of my favorite memories. They were all face up to the sky like they were giving praise to the sun. If the sunflower was created to grow towards the sun, shouldn’t every person know they were created to grow towards the Son.
In Phuket, Thailand, I had some time alone and went to the beach to soak up the sun. As I sat, I watched the waves crash against the shore, kids playing in the sand, and a lot of people worshipping the sun. The sun in Southeast Asia is like no other. It’s so hot and blazes from the moment it rises to the moment it sets. Why do these people seek the sun and worship it for hours? Are they seeking external change in hoping that it would fulfill the internal desires? The Son is the only one that fulfills the internal desire.
We’ve seen the sun reflect off the water in many cities, my question to you is, are you reflecting the Son?
I mean He loves us soooo much that He gave us His ONLY Son so that we could could have everlasting life. A very wise man once told me, as believers this is only hell we will ever know, as non-believers this is the only Heaven they will ever know.
