Hey everyone! I thought it would be helpful to explain why I’m going on the world race. I have been on 9 short term mission trips and each of these trips have impacted my life in a significant way. Through these trips I have enjoyed seeing God at work in different parts of the world. On a missions trip to Mexico I recommitted my life to the Lord and came home forever changed. Short term missions trips have played a significant role in my faith journey. Missions trips have stretched me in my faith and I come home eager to be more plugged in to Christian community and learn about missions around the world.
When I first heard about the world race I was on a missions trip to Costa Rica with Bethlehem Baptist church. I was interacting with a woman at a ministry site who went on the world race and she told me about the life changing experience she had. I had never heard of the world race before, so I decided to look it up online. I was immediately captivated by the blog posts I had read and decided I would begin praying about going on the world race. The Costa Rica missions trip was in February 2017 and I decided would pray about pursuing the world race when my student loans were paid off. After the Costa Rica trip I joined the nurture program at Bethlehem Baptist, a program for those interested in pursuing missions in the future. I applied for the world race the day before I left on my missions trip to Thailand in February and when I returned from Thailand I felt peace about continuing to pursue the world race. The Thailand trip confirmed my love for seeing God at work around the world and I felt that I could see myself committing to a year of short term trips.
What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11 country, 11 month mission trip to share the love of Jesus and serve others around the world. The countries I will be traveling to are Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, and South Africa. We will be doing a variety of things in each country and the details of what we will be doing and where we will be will be released to us at training camp.
In order to go on the World Race I need to raise $18,000. It is a HUGE goal, but I believe in the bigness of God and that if it’s in His will for me to go He will provide. Would you consider partnering with me with a one time gift or a monthly gift to make my dream of going on the World Race a reality? There is a link on my blog to give online or
You can send a check to: Adventures in Missions P.O Box 742570 Atlanta, GA 30374-2570 (Be sure to indicate the check is for me)
Above all, I would ask for your prayers. The thought of leaving life behind for a year is exhilarating and also a little overwhelming for me. Please pray that God would prepare my heart to be stretched in new ways and that He would comfort my heart as I leave life here in the U.S for a year.
