A question I get asked frequently is what my favorite month of the World Race has been. This has been a hard question for me to answer because each month of the Race has been incredible in its own way. I made a list of how each country was amazing and why.
Honduras: Best month with a team: The Lowin warriors was best team of ladies I could have possibly started the Race with
Nicaragua: Best adventure days: Volcano boarding and swimming near a volcanic crater were some of my favorite adventure days.
Costa Rica: Most fun month: manual labor by day and swimming in the ocean at night I was living my best life
Panama: best running views
Indonesia: favorite month on the Race: enjoyed time with Wycliffe missionaries, incredible hospitality, and spectacular island views
Vietnam: best connection with the locals: enjoyed getting coffee and dinner with our English students
Cambodia: best food month: our host made us eggs with veggies or we had an oatmeal bar for breakfast every morning, ate at local restaurants with lots of healthy options for under $5, and the Noodle Man had deep fried noodles with veggies for $2
Thailand: Ministry host left the best impact on my life: Avis has been a missionary in Thailand for 40 years and at 73 years old has no plans for retirement
Zimbabwe: Best living quarters: we shared a home with our host and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. This has been my only month on the Race to live with locals and I loved it.
Botswana: Best hike I did on the Race
Swaziland: The most joy I’ve had on the Race; loved helping in a preschool classroom and multiple people on my squad were very intentional with me and made me feel very loved
Lesotho: Best landscape on the Race: enjoyed reading my Bible everyday with a spectacular Mountain View
South Africa: Best accommodations on the Race: we are staying in a beautiful place that used to be a bed and breakfast and it feels like we are in America
Ministry update: My team and I are doing house visits and children’s ministry in Johannesburg, South Africa. We will be doing ministry in Johannesburg until the 13th and then we will fly to Cape town for our final debrief with our leadership team.
Special request: Many of you have given very generously towards my World Race Missions Trip. I am reaching out to see if any of my donors would be interested in helping sponsor my final debrief in Cape town. The purpose of our final debrief is to celebrate the amazing work God has done this year and to effectively process our experience. I am reaching out to see if anyone would like to donate $10-30 to cover meals I eat out and adventures I do in the area on our off days. My Venmo is @Chelsea-Vaglica or you can mail a check to my parents house in Wisconsin. If you would like to mail a check and do not have my address send me a message and I can get it to you.
