Teaching a Bible study to the Discipleship Training School students
We have been in Chiriqui, Panama for about 2 weeks now. Chiriqui is about 30 minutes outside the city of David. We are staying at a YYAM base and there are students here for the discipleship training school as well as adults attending the leadership school. It has been enjoyable to get to know the people involved in the YYAM program. The students are primarily from Panama and there are a few students from Guatemala. We have been teaching English classes and leading bible studies with the discipleship training school. We have also helped with two different children’s programs in the area. Each day in Panama has looked different and we are happy to serve our hosts in whatever way we can.
Some highs and lows in my life as a month 3 World Racer:
Highs: 69 degree weather never felt so good after being in 90 degree weather in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, spectacular sunrises over a volcano on my 6 am runs, clan laundry for only a dollar a load (cheaper than what I was paying in Minnesota), and HOT showers (rare and beautiful gift on the Race)
Lows: Sometimes I miss having control over the food I eat. The other day I splurged and bought myself yogurt at the grocery store and it was mouth watering. Food here is good and I eat everything I am given, but lately I’ve been having withdrawals of salads and fresh vegetables.
Something I am looking forward to: My freedom fighters team includes 5 amazing teammates and we are all unique and resemble different attributes of who God is. I’m excited to build more intentional relationships with my team and have interesting bonding sessions over culture shock and jet lag in Indonesia. Believe me, it’s a real thing.
