Hello from Zambia! Our team, Game Changers, have been here for about two weeks now.

So much has happened since we’ve been here and the Lord has been moving in so many amazing ways. I’ve been wracking my brain for the last few days trying to figure out what to share with you all. So, a brief overview will have to do for now, more detailed stories will come later.

Our host

Pastor Zulu and his wife, Mama Zulu are some of the most wonderful people I have met. They picked us up from the airport and quickly welcomed us into their family. They have grown children of their own, but they have adopted us as well.

Mama Zulu makes some killer meals, seriously, she’s a great cook. Pastor Zulu has become like our dad for the month. Almost every night at dinner he chats with us about the Lord, Zambia, their culture, and many other things.

To sum them up, they are simply amazing.

What we are doing

Basically, door to door evangelism. We go into a compound everyday and visit the people who live there.

All of us have seen an inordinate amount of people come to the Lord. The fields are ripe for harvest here in Zambia, and we are hard at work.

Aside from people coming to the Lord we have also been encouraging fellow believers. We visit houses, share scripture, and pray for people.

We’ve also become incredibly close with some of our translators and it would be wrong of me not to mention them in this blog.

Joy and Becky

They are some of the most precious people I have met.

Joy astounds me with her knowledge of the Word and her heart for the Lord. She pursues Him well and His heart shines through her. She’s also incredibly gifted with children and it’s amazing to watch her interact with them.

Becky…what can I say? She’s a firecracker. She loves on all of us really well, but especially Kimberly. She is young but she cares so much about people. She understands the importance of really getting to know people and cares to understand where we are coming from. Her heart is so kind and I love being around her contagious personality.

Zambian Culture

Although I cannot fit all the ins and outs of Zambian culture in this blog, I really want to share something I’ll be taking away from it.

Zambian people, across the board, are some of the most welcoming and hospitable people I have ever met. Right off the bat, Pastor Zulu and Mama Zulu welcomed us into their family, but it doesn’t stop there.

Without a doubt, every time we come to someone’s home they either give us a place to sit or welcome us inside their homes. They will sit on the floor to give us a seat. They’ve given us snacks. One woman gave us something to drink.

They give even though they don’t have much. They are willing to sacrifice of themselves to give to others. If that doesn’t show the heart of the Father, I don’t know what does.

Our time here in Zambia is drawing to a close, but I know it will stay in my heart forever. All the people, this place, they have my heart. And now, I have a new name.

Not only have Pastor Zulu and Mama Zulu given us Chitengees (traditional wrap skirts), necklaces, and dresses, they also gave us each Zambian names.

Hence the title of this blog… the name they gave me is Chi Funilo. It means God’s will in their native language.

I have been so honored to be here, the fact that the Lord brought us to a wonderful place with such amazing people continues to astound me.

I love Zambia and I’m sure one day it’ll be God’s will for me to come back here ??

With great love,

Chels
