What do you do when God asks you to go to the train station and trust him? You do it.

Jenny, Holly, Kimberly, Erin, Megan (one of our squad leaders), and I had been staying in a hostel in Indonesia for a few days seeking where God wanted us to go next. Since this month is ATL for us we had no set housing or ministry, we were simply asking God where he wanted us to go and what he wanted us to do.

He had given us lots of pieces of his puzzle, but not the full picture.

He was asking us to trust him one baby step at a time. So, yesterday the six of us packed up all our things and went to the train station. Let me tell you, it was probably quite a sight to see six sweaty white girls roll into a train station in Indonesia.

When we got there we prayed and asked God to lead us. Lead us he did. We felt he was asking us to buy a ticket to another city. So we did.

Fast forward a few hours later we are at KFC. Yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken in Indonesia. We prayed again and then Jenny, Erin, and I went out to seek God in the city.

When we got outside we asked God, left or right?

Right.

After walking for a bit we found a church and went inside during their service. We didn’t think to dress up so we strolled in wearing athletic shorts and t-shirts, but it’s okay because God cares more about our hearts than our clothes.

The service ended and an English speaking woman directed us to another church for help with ministry. So the three of us left on a mission. A hop, skip, and jump away we found the other church.

We were welcomed into the church leaders house and they insisted on feeding us. So we ate. They asked us many questions and gave us two pieces of cake each (it was SO good). We found out later that it was the leaders’ birthday!

They told us the elders needed to discuss whether we could stay in their guest house and serve at their church for the month. We were happy for even the opportunity to serve and decided to go back to KFC to discuss what God had provided with Holly, Kimberly, and Megan.

After talking with everyone and praying about what to do we decided to lug our big packs to the church. So we did.

We spoke with one of the elders and then they invited us to go to their evening service. So we did. Still not knowing whether we had a place to sleep or not. They also invited us to sing during the service. So we did.

After the service, they lead us back to our original room and told us we could stay in their guest house for the rest of the month. They also invited us to dinner at an authentic Indonesian restaurant. So we went.

We came back to the guest home after eating some of the most wonderful food I have experienced and praised God for how faithful he had been. Looking back on the day we could see his fingerprints everywhere.

It’s amazing what can be done when we trust God in the baby steps. When we are obedient even when we can’t see the whole picture. He is faithful to provide in everything.

In the last 24 hours my faith in his provision has grown tremendously. To see him work mightily on our behalf is so encouraging and I am confident he will continue to smash my expectations.

Life with God is always an adventure and will take you places you never dreamed of going. I am in complete awe of the life he has set out for us.

Keep trusting him, friends, and keep finding adventures in the baby steps.

With great love,
