Hello from Kosovo!
This month our whole squad is partnering with a church in Prishtina and our first week here has been intense to say the least. We arrived right before a HUGE outreach project called Impact Kosovo which involved people from many different countries coming to help evangelize here in Kosovo.
This convention included long days, lots of flyers, walking all around town, and a flash mob. You heard me right, a flash mob.
Evangelism is not something I would claim to be good at, but nevertheless our group went out to the streets of Prishtina to share the good news and invite people to church.
On Wednesday, July 11, about halfway through the week, I went out weary and with a hard heart.
AJ and I had been working together to hand out flyers and create relationships with the people here. Before we started we prayed, but still, we were both tired and didn’t particularly want to be walking around the square for 3 hours straight.
We ended up having to go back to the church because we had forgotten flyers and in that time AJ talked to me about how important it is to put in the hard work now. How important it is to be faithful in the little things.
How important it is to say yes to God.
As we made our way back to the square I could feel the Lord changing my heart.
We ended up befriending a man who had set up a little shop in the square. He gave us free stickers and told us about Kosovo’s history. He was very kind and spoke with us for about 45 minutes.
Then we kept walking and ran across a small print shop, it caught our eyes so we went in. We befriended the two guys working there, one of which looks almost exactly like my brother. They also gave us free stickers and we invited them to church.
After this we kept walking and ended up inside a beautiful Cathedral where we talked to God for a little while before heading back out.
As we made our way back to the main part of the square we were intrigued by a statue, so we walked over to it. While we were there two girls came up and started talking with us. They are sisters and they were so kind and loving.
On our way back home we met a guy who lives in the building across from ours and ended up going out with him and his friend for coffee.
Relationships are incredibly important and AJ and I plan to continue pouring into all of these people.
I look back on this day and all I can do is point to the Lord. He set up all of those appointments and changed my heart for His glory.
I’m grateful to be the vessel, but I know all of that was the Lord.
I want to encourage you all the say yes to the Lord in the little things. He brought so much out of my one little yes to hand out flyers.
He can and will do amazing things through us all, we just have to be willing to say yes.
With great love,
Chels
