Today at ministry (the feeding program), there was a little girl named Carmen who was four years old. I initially sat with her and her brother, and I was drawn to them. I love all the kids, but the ones who are quiet and don’t smile are my favorites, because I want to love on them and bring joy into their life. Carmen and her brother were some of these kids. They smiled some, but were pretty quiet, especially her. I sat behind her in the church, and I asked if I could braid her hair. It was really hot outside, and her hair was down. Plus, it looked unbrushed and dirty, and that made me sad. So, I braided her hair, even using my own hair tie so it would stay. It was a simple act that anyone could have done. It took maybe a minute and very little skill. After I finished braiding her hair, she walked away.
I saw her talking to her brother, and while I couldn’t hear their conversation, I could tell she was telling him about the braid and showing it to him. While doing this, her face was beaming! All because of a simple braid! Being able to make a difference in her life, even if it was by doing such a small act, really made my day and brought joy to my life. It was the perfect birthday blessing from God!
Carmen, I hope you always know that you are loved by Christ! I hope you know that you are beautiful in His eyes and in mine! I hope you know that you are a princess, because He is the King!
