Hello everyone!
Today’s blog is more of a fun story blog so if you’re looking for something a little more serious I’d like to redirect you to one of my other blog posts and/or one of my team mates blogs. For the rest of you that would like a fun story that sheds a light on the realities of living on the World Race, welcome! For this first chapter we’re gonna quickly travel back in time to living in Guatemala because that’s when I wrote this blog. Enjoy!
The day we got back home after our month one debrief, I was greeted by a lovely welcome home gift. A puddle of water on my bed.
The leak above my bed had gotten worse while we were away. Not wanting me to get sick because of this, my team leader Anabelle suggested moving my bed. After maybe an hour of brainstorming where my new sleeping arrangement would be, we settled on re-bunking two beds so I’d be on a top bunk.
I’m now in a corner with HPK, Makayla and Val. It’s an interesting arrangement to say the least. HPK and I are on the top, while Makayla and Val occupy the bottom.
I’m pretty sure HPK and I annoy Makayla and Val sometimes with our late laughing fits that shake the entire bunks. All we have to do is look at each other for it to start. As I’m writing this, I just read the past sentence to her and she spit out her water. The giggles are real guys.
Having all four of our beds so close to each other means we can World Race text…aka airdrop notes. Because we have no service or wifi, airdropping notes to each other is the best we got. Basically modern day note passing.
With all of our sense of humors being so similar that’s a recipe for no sleep. For us and the rest of our team, sorry guys we love you. Our note threads are very weird and anyone reading them from the outside view may get worried about us.
It started with Val airdropping us saying she wanted to join the airdrop party, then went into a Spanish competition, Christmas drawings, then finally some very flattering pictures of us in our beds started circling. Every time a new note was shared the giggling started then intensified as each person received it.
Needless to say we’re enjoying the new arrangement for the most part.
Next quick story, a lot of the squad has been listening to Beyoncé’s Homecoming Live album recently. My team has been in on this listening party. After dinner one night, I walk into my room to find it playing on the speakers. Val and HPK were doing little dance moves to the music. Within five minutes our whole team was having heard the ruckus inside and immediately went wide eyed at what they were witnessing. Our family going crazy going over some Beyoncé. Some squad mates even joined in after seeing what we were up to!
That’s all for now!
See you soon!
