Hello everyone!
I recently got back from training camp for the World Race Gap Year! I got to meet the amazing people I’ll be traveling and living with for my nine months on the field!
During training camp we slept in tents, took bucket showers, conquered the big hike, got relatively used to daddy long legs occupying our tent space, ate some weird food from countries we’ll be going to, and got to know everyone on our squad.
Our squad is made up of around 43 people aged 17-20. Within our squad we’ve gotten split up into teams, or small groups, of 5-8. In this blog, I wanted to introduce you to the five fantastic girls in my team, team Esther as we’ve called ourselves!
I already love these girls so much. The way they live out their faith has already inspired me. I can’t wait to get closer to them and make super cool memories all around the world.
We’ve called ourselves team Esther because we want to live out what Esther did. She was courageous and took risks because her faith was so strong. She also was away from her family for a year, what a coincidence right?!
Anyway, without further ado…meet my team!
“Hola! My name is Valeria Gómez, I’m 19 years old, and I’m from Costa Rica! I love my team, and I’m so excited to work together to bring Kingdom to the nations. I also love pizza, nutella, and High School Musical.”
“Hi! I’m Hannah Keller from Houston, Texas! I’m 18, I love music, Tex-mex, and cats! I am so excited to be a vessel for God’s love to the nations with this incredible team.”
“Hey, I’m Hannah Sullivan. I’m 18 years old, I’m from Fort Mill, South Carolina. I love animals and Jesus! I’m trusting Jesus fully on what my future holds and am so stoked to uncover it with Him by my side the whole way!”
“Hello! My name is Makayla Boyd and I am 18 years old! I currently live in Nashville, TN with my parents, my sister, my 3 little brothers, and my chow chow puppy, Piper! I love the color green, and mashed potatoes are my favorite food! I cannot wait to travel the world sharing the love of Jesus and all he has done for me!!”
“Hello! I am Amber and I am 20 years old. I am a self-taught artist, I am an anime/marvel nerd and I am completely excited to see where God leads me over the next year and the rest of my life!”
That’s my team! I love these guys so much and I’m super excited to go on this adventure together! Go Team Esther!!
I’ll soon be posting a training camp vlog so be ready for that! I’m super excited to share everything that happened (but not too much as to not spoil everything for any future racers watching)!
