Sawasdee kha (Hello) from Thailand! This month the women of Team Jubilee and the women of Team 180 are serving together in the city of Chiangmai. Our contact, Emmi, has an amazing testimony of God’s transforming power and love. Her ministry is called Lighthouse In Action.

During the day we are working at the WonGen Kafe. This coffee shop has been open for 2 months and has a vision to reach out to the young people of Chiangmai city. It is a safe place for people to hang out at and an alternative to the prevalent bar scene. We have been passing out flyers to promote the coffee shop at the local university during the lunch hour. Many of the Thai students know some English, so it has been a lot of fun to talk with them and get to know more about their culture. The remainder of our time at the coffee shop is spent getting to know the customers and to be a light to the people here. The delicious cheesecake and brownies at WonGen Kafe are also one of the perks!

At night, some of the women continue to work at the coffee shop until it closes at 10pm, while the remainder of the women head out to the bars. There is a section of the city that is lined with bars. We have been praying about what bars to go to and it’s been amazing to see how God is moving.

There are 2 bars that we have been going to regularly. The women prostitutes and lady boys (men dressed as women) at these bars have been so welcoming. We started out by playing games of Connect Four with them and last week we taught them how to play the card game Uno. Through these simple games we have slowly been building relationships with these men and women. Christ’s love is shining such a bright light in a very dark place. Check out my teammate, Jordan’s, blog for opportunities to get involved in this ministry.
