On a day that has been referred to as S.A.D (Single Awareness Day), aka Valentine’s Day, I was anything but sad. Our team was spending a couple of nights in Bangkok before heading out to our ministry site in Kantharalak, Thailand. Janna, Jordan, and I started our day by going to the mall and “treating” ourselves to delicious Mexican food. Real flour tortillas, chips, and salsa in Thailand…I was shocked! We then shopped around for some great loot to put in our brother’s (Matthew and D.J.) Valentine’s Day bags. What better way to a guy’s heart than Oreos, Pringles, gummy bears, and a chocolate brownie? We also found some silly, but cute, stuffed alligator key chains that we couldn’t resist.

After we returned from our mall extravaganza, Matthew and D.J. gave us each a beautiful rose (mine was red) and a heart shaped chocolate. Matthew had also written each one of us girls a poem. I would like to share the poem that he wrote for me.

Red.

Red like the fire in the sky
Of a burning dawning sun.
Full of optimism,
Full of grace,
Filling all with life-giving energy.
No chains can hold her,
No bonds can tie her down.
She rises with new-day mercies
And sets with everlasting love.

She is the color of hope.

I was so blessed and encouraged by these words. I am so honored to be serving alongside these two amazing men of God, true brothers. So on a day that I could have spent dwelling on my singleness, God’s love and grace was poured out on me through my teammates.
