My prayer has been that I would know more deeply God’s love for me. My heart wants to love people with His love. I have had walls up, but little by little the Lord has been showing me that He wants to come through those walls.  He wants me to know that He is trustworthy.

The people of La Cama, a small Mayan village in the mountains, have been so gracious and a true picture of hospitality. We are helping to build a church here in La Cama. We are staying in Pastor Manuel’s house…literally. His wife, Lucia, and 5 children moved their belongings out of their 3 bedroom home and moved into a smaller “house” so that our team would have shelter for these 3 weeks. Wow, such a humbling moment! Our World Race teams are the first missions teams to stay in their village. They have had teams come in the past for medical/construction missions, but they have stayed in larger cities.

The Lord is showing me His love through the people in La Cama and also through my teammates. It is so amazing to see how He has put us together so perfectly. We are becoming family. God is so good!

We have come a long way with the community here since our first day last Sunday. The children have gone from running away and hiding to playing and hugging us! The women truly have servant hearts. Each day, during our construction work, a couple of the women will bring us snacks in the morning and afternoon. One women even rode in the bus for 40 minutes to the nearby city to buy us orange juice! I have been learning that receiving love is just as important as giving love. By being blessed we are blessing.

Thank you for all of your prayers!
