I dont know why we think we know everything.
but we don't. we dont know anything.
I was sitting with my friend Katie talking about our friend's engagement.
She was there to witness the event.
Heather, our mutual friend who was being proposed to was freaking out all day.
not because she knew she was being proposed to, but because
she thought she was never going to get married.
that's right, she's being proposed to that day and she worried about
never getting married.
I guess the day they were in Chicago everyone was getting married.
there were a lot of brides running around looking beautiful and happy.
Charlie, heathers then boyfriend was getting quite irritated.
He knew what his plan was, and he knew in a couple of hours
heather would be on her way to becoming a bride.
but heather didnt know that, so how could she understand
that there was no reason to worry or complain.
she couldnt, all she can do is trust.
trust that her boyfriend wanted a future with her
and that his timing was right in asking.
I'm heather, most of the time.
and i'm sure, you are too.
God's doing his thing with our life. Ya know, doing what he does.
He's got his blue prints out.
because our God is organized, if you didnt know.
He's got a plan.
he already has seen the future, so he knows.
he's with us now, so he knows.
and he was with us in our past, so he still knows.
Whether it is marriage, school, friends, a relationship, food, a job, anything.
We worry.
we sit and wonder when is it going to happen.
we feel like we've been waiting FOREVER.
we DESERVE it.
Well lets just get this one thing straight before we move forward.
the only thing we DESERVE is hell.
so, theres that.
get off your high horse right now.
Jesus doesnt owe you anything.
He freely gave us freedom.
grace.
forgiveness.
love.
life.
we have those because he's a gracious god.
not because we deserved it.
As we sit here and whine to our friends about how we're never getting married
or we wont get into that school
or that job is never going to call back
or OH NO our boyfriend isnt going to call back
God's sitting there saying
"SHUT UP,
If you would just wait a second and TRUST ME i have this for you.
you're going to be asked in 2 seconds"
okay dont quote me on that because i'm sure God would say that a lot more patiently
but you catch my drift.
We arnt just being led into darkness.
God has an exact day to to day, moment to moment plan for my life
and yours.
trust him.
i know its hard because you cant see the full plan
but i think thats a good thing.
learning to trust God is the most important thing you'll ever do.
If you would stop complaining and worrying for 2 seconds
and just TRUST, you'll see the beauty of his plan unfold.
"Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
