We Need Your Help!

Hello from Thmorkol, Cambodia! We send our love to you as we wipe sweat from  every inch of us due to the non-stop, sweltering heat here in Asia. We are working at New Hope School teaching English during the week and assisting with Bible studies on Sunday afternoons. Our host, Sarith, is the director and founder of New Hope School. He has an incredible testimony and an unquenchable passion for educating children living in poverty. He desires for all children to have the opportunity for a better life by receiving an education and knowing about Jesus. Currently, New Hope School only focuses on teaching English. The desire that Sarith and the staff have to provide a better life for these children through an education is inspiring.

Sarith is a first-time World Race contact, and he found out about the organization by simply getting on Google and researching. Sarith grew up not having the opportunities for an education like the ones he is providing. His desire is to provide new hope, new future, and new life through an education and knowing Jesus. After being here for just a few days we can already see the impact that Sarith is having in this area. The children that attend this school come to learn English with the hope of having a better future, but through learning about Jesus, they are getting more than they know. They are getting an opportunity to truly live in new hope. In Cambodia 99% of the population is either Buddhist or Hindu. Sarith really is providing a new hope, new future, and new life for the children of Cambodia by providing an education and knowledge of Jesus.

Sarith started a school once, and due to lack of funding, he had to shut it down. He then moved to Korea and worked there for three years to raise money to build a new school while simultaneously supporting his family. New Hope School is the product of that hard work and has been open since 2012. The funding he has currently will run out at the end of this month. At this time he cannot keep the teachers here on a salary, but it is his desire to do so in the future. He has dreams for this school and after working with him here it is evident that his heart is in the right place. He is honest and hard-working, and he is seeking God’s wisdom on how to keep this school going.

We want to join in the effort that Sarith is doing. We are eager to do all that we can to assist his dream and the work that the Father is doing in the lives of the children and staff at New Hope School. Sarith needs approximately $700 a month to keep New Hope School going. We also have seen the need for teaching supplies, children’s books, and tools to assist with teaching English. Most of these children will not be able to attend high school or college due to finances. On Sundays, many of the older students make bracelets in hope to sell them for a profit to fund their continued education efforts. So, would you consider supporting New Hope School? We would like to see the month of April be fully funded with $700. If there is any remainder, we would like to donate the money for school supplies and books. Education is the key to getting out of poverty for these children, and the knowledge of Jesus that comes with education at New Hope School will sustain them.
