While praying and seeking Father’s heart in regards to the World Race I came across a quote from a friend and missionary in his monthly news letter that said “Sometimes it is in our going and obedience that God clarifies His assignment.” His words hit my heart and spoke truth to an uncertain and scared place in me.
You see, I’ve been asking Father what my purpose is for the past year, seeking His plan for my life. While I enjoy being a nurse, I know it is not what I was created for. It is a part of who I am, but I want to live in the place of my calling and His purpose. And this “World Race thing” kept coming up and I knew Father was drawing my heart to this adventure. My heart, though desperately wanting to go, was afraid. I thought, “Could I really do this? Leave my family and friends for nearly a year? What happens if I need to get home quickly? How will I feel and deal with missing out on important things here at home?” All of these thoughts were running through my head the day when I read that quote and I got a glimpse of the Father’s love for me. He was not put off by my fears or disappointed that I had doubts. He has only love for me and He spoke gently to my worried heart and confirmed what He had had called me to was where I was supposed to be. He clarified His assignment for me, will I be obedient and go?
When His heart collides with ours it is only there that we are free and satisfied. Where we know we have caught a glimpse of His Kingdom and love, it is where our Creator speaks to His creation and reveals His purpose for our lives. I want to go and I want to be obedient to whatever He calls me to. We can rest easy in His calling because He is there with us. This journey is a part of my purpose and I want to share it with you! So, here we go….What is this “World Race Thing?”
The World Race is an 11 month long Christian mission trip that will travel to 11 countries across the globe. I am part of the the January 2015 route 2 squad and will be visiting these countries in this order….
1. Phillipines 6. Zambia
2. Thailand 7. Zimbabwe
3. Cambodia 8. Ireland
4. Vietnam 9 Bulgaria
5. Malawi 10. Moldova
11. Romania
My Squad will be living alongside the locals, having the honor and opportunity to serve them, love them, and get to be the hands and feet of Jesus. By his unending and unfailing love we will get to show love to orphans, take care of the forgotten ones left vulnerable from poverty, fight for the ones imprisoned from human trafficking, pray for the sick, speak His truth to the ones who’ve known lies, and see hearts set free! These are all things that you can do right here at home, but He is calling me to this “World Race thing.” God willing, I will be obedient and follow Him. Where He goes I will go. So, what is He calling you to? What is your purpose? If you’re not sure, pray about it. He will lead you to it. This “World Race thing” is a part of mine and I’m learning to trust Him with all things.
