Through our contact at the orphanage, we had the privilege
of meeting Saji Phillip, a 6’9″ former basketball player who loves Jesus and is
now uses the game of basketball to reach out and minister to kids from the slum
of New Delhi. Saji and his wife Miriam have a heart for the kids and spend
every evening at the courts with them, playing ball and then feeding them and
giving a devo. Jake and I and the Salty Sheep had the opportunity to go with
the one night and love on these kids as well.
If you know me, then you know that basketball has been a
huge part of my life. Every mission’s trip I have done before the World Race
has had some sort of sports evangelism involved. So, I was really excited to
work with this ministry, Pray Before You Play.
