I went to the Taj Mahal in May and Angkor Wat in Febuary. I had planned to write a blog about how amazing, impressive, and beautiful these “wonders of the world” were. But as I began to write, I realized that these two sites don’t even come close to the pieces of God’s creation that I’ve seen this year.
I sat atop the Great Wall of China in 2009 and was in awe of a God who could love a preachers kid from Oklahoma so much that He would bring me to such an incredible place. Now, I’ve had the privilege of seeing 3 wonders of the world. I’ve seen man’s best work. But no stacked rocks, marble etchings, or elaborate engravings come close to having the awesome effect on my spirit that I have as I sit on the bank of a river in the mountains of Nepal. I am reminded of how small we are, and how big God is. Nothing man does can compare to the beauty of God and his creation. Nothing compares…
God you are so mighty and strong. I stand in awe of you and your great power. You are an awesome God, a brilliant creator, and a lover of my soul. Thank you for the beauty that surrounds me and whispers sweet songs of love from you. You are a good, good Father and I ask that you give me an ever increasing knowledge of who you are and how deep your beautiful love is for me.
“Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place? My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken.” Isaiah 66:1-2
