I have a poster in my room that says, “OBEDIENCE–Dying is the process–God’s presence is the result.” This process of dying started in China, continued in my surrender to the mission field and the World Race, and it continues now with support raising.

I like being in control. I like to be the one helping people, not the one in need of help. So raising support for a trip like this is not one of the more enjoyable parts of my life as a support-funded missionary. I trust God, and I know that He who called me is faithful. My support will come, God will provide, but I can’t sit passively by and expect people to come to me. So the first thing that God is teaching me during this preparation process is to be humble. He is telling me to lay down my pride and humble myself before others. It’s not easy. But God has blessed me with some amazing people in my life and they have poured their love and wisdom into me and given me the tools to succeed.

So let me ask you to think of a rescue worker descending into a dark well in an attempt to save a child that has fallen in.  The rescuer is tethered into his harness with ropes attached to his belt, but in order for him to get to the victim, there has to be someone who is willing to hold the rope.  The rope holder serves as a lifeline, both for the rescuer and for the victim.  Without the lifeline the situation is hopeless.  All of us want to see the lost and hopeless find their way to Jesus.  However, most people cannot leave their jobs and family for a year or more, or stand up to the rigors that such an endeavor would demand.  That’s where I come in.  I am young and strong and willing to go.  God has called me to go down the well, but I need a lifeline.  I need people who would be willing to hold the rope for me and for those who have no hope if I don’t go.  If we join together as a team, in the power of the Lord, we can change the world.
So there it is, I need your help.  The cost of a trip like this is a little daunting.  But with only 100 people committing themselves to be a Lifeline Partner and providing $15 per month from August 2010 through November 2011, we can have an impact on thousands of lives around the world.  The only question that remains is “Will YOU hold the rope?”  Will you commit yourself today, to being one of my Lifeline Partners.  If so, please follow the “help me go” link on the left of the screen.
