Well, during the last weekend in September I found myself once again burning up the pavement of I-40 heading east to OKC and up past Tulsa into eastern Oklahoma. I had a full weekend planned and was able to share it with Kyla Fournier, an incredible young lady from Amarillo. I was able to lure her to Oklahoma with me on the promise of an amazing youth rally and free food, but what I didn’t tell her was she would be put to work immediatley upon arriving in Grove and continue working for the majority of the weekend. She took the news quite well and when we arrived in Grove my Dad preceded to put us to work decorating the gym for the 100+ teenagers who would arrive the next day. On top of all the youth rally excitment, my mentor from yesteryear, Brandi Baxter, came up to visit. Bless this faithful woman of God, she persevered and loved me when there was nothing loveable about my bitter and rebellous spirit.

I had the privilege of attending “Radically Committed” an event for high school and college students. It was a great event and we saw 4 students give their lives to Jesus and trust in him for salvation! Brent the Stunt Guy was there and if you’ve never seen or heard of him and his awesome ministry check out his website here.
The music was led by the band Scarlet, I love the things God is doing through these guys, a great group of guys from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO check out their music here. It was a great day of worship, fun, and a challenge not only for the students in attendence but for me as well. The questions asked were, “What are you gonna do when it’s your world to change?” and “When are you gonna start?” These questions are what I have been asking myself for the past year and these are questions that I want to challenge all of you to ask yourselves as well.

I was able to worship with the First Freewill Baptist Church of Miami on Sunday morning and wow! what an awesome church family and all around encouraging day. Pastor Mark Goode has a joy that radiates and is contagious. I have loved this man since the first “Glory! Halleujah!!” I heard sprout forth from him one Thursday morning before dawn at Rivers of Life. After the services Kyla and I were invited to stay for lunch, homemade tacos, and that was a no-brainer…point us to the kitchen! It was a great day of fun, food, and fellowship and getting to know Mark’s wife, Lisa, was great fun. She is hilarious and I really can’t wait to be able to go back to this great congregation.

We were able to spend part of the evening in OKC with the Jennings and Stanley families having a cookout in Ms. Tish’s beautiful oasis of a backyard. Again, great food, fun, and fellowship, followed by smores…mmmmm!

Well, that about sums up my last weekend in September…BOOMER SOONER!
