Last month we had the privilege of having two amazing U-Squad men from Team Wrecking Ball, Charles McCall and Mike Hall, staying with us two days a week. The guys were great, they fixed fans that had spontaneously combusted, changed light bulbs, dug a fire pit, played soccer, and told us how pretty we were. Last week I asked Charles to give the devotion for us in the afternoon, I want to share his challenge with you.
He spoke about being desperate for the spirit and asked us what that desperation looked like in our lives. Our power comes from the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) but too many of us aren’t walking in that power. We aren’t seeking the Spirit, we are comfortable living in our own strength, which is weak. In true World Race style we made declarations as to what being desperate for the Holy Spirit looks like in our lives. Here is what we said:
When we are desperate for the Spirit…
· loving people, even when it hurts, becomes possible.
· everything about our perspective changes and we surrender fully to God.
· His Word becomes alive and life changing.
· worship becomes so much more than words and songs-it become relational and engaging.
· we can trust Him completely.
· fear is not an option.
· we stop being bound by our past.
· the only words that matter are His.
· we don’t seek out gifts, they just come naturally.
· our attitude changes and we can see the big picture.
· the things of this world have no hold on us.
So, are you truly desperate for the Spirit? What does that desperation look like in your life? What does it produce?
