NEPAL | Kathmandu

After a 30-something hour travel day, we finally made it to Nepal. I have
been looking forward to Nepal since the beginning hoping that it would look
like Animal Kingdom at Disney. To my amazement, it looks even cooler. We spent
the night in a hotel in Thamul  (which
by-the-way if you ever in your life get to go over seas out of all the places I
have been I recommend this one first). The streets are so small and busy, but
very colorful. The people here are beautiful and so sweet.

We met our contact, Reuban and his family the next day. Absolutely the
coolest contacts we have had. He looks similiar to a snowborder with his shaggy
long hair and motor bike that he rides around. He is the head person for
Churches Network Nepal and has his hands in a lot of different things around
the country. In Kathmandu, his main focus is a sports ministry. One of the
teams that is part of it is a football (soccer) team called Church Boys United.
Ater only four years, they are already a first division team and the only
Christian team in the division. Reuban plays the part of both teammate and coach
always there to encourage or consul when need be.

On Sunday, we will be taking a ten hour bus ride to Kali Daha which is in
the Southeast plains of Nepal. It is supposed to be a lot warmer than here in
Kathmandu (the weather here is amazing), but it is a village. We will be
working with the newlywed couple Shova and Bourat who are from Kali Daha
originally. They have told us of a very wide range of things we will be doing
which we are all excited about.

Reuban has quite an amazing schedule for us hopefully including a trip to
see Mt. Everest, but I will keep you posted. His family has already been
amazing these past few days we arrived to strawberries our first night and
found that they had not only a washer but a dryer! (haven’t dried my clothes in
7 months) Reuban is a goof-ball, always saying the funniest things. He acts
like a teenager even though He is probably ten years older than us and has two
kids. I think this month may be the best yet and I can’t wait to tell you more!
