TANZANIA | Morogoro to Dar Es Salaam to Zanzibar to Dar Es Salaam

At the end of our ministry month, we came back to Morogoro after spending a
week in Mzumbe. We went to a different hotel this time, because my teammate
Tara’s room was broke into and some things stolen from the hotel before.
Luckily this hotel had fans which was quite a relief inspite of the heat. We
were met in Morogoro by our two squad leaders and Bethany Dragon (another
member of our squad) who would join us for the remaining few days.

However, we were only there for a day before the local immigration people
came to our door demanding payment for a volunteer visa that we needed in order
to evangelize. Due to the crazy price of such a slip of paper, we ended up just
spending the last two days sitting around the hotel.

Finally it was the day to leave to go back to Dar Es Salaam. We would only
spend a couple of days here before heading to Zanzibar, an island off the coast
of Tanzania, for a night.

The beach was beautiful here. Beautiful white sandy beaches, tri-colored
water, and local boats scattered across the ocean. One thing I have found about
Africa, is that the stars are extremely bright here. So, our night in Zanzi
after dinner Chris Garcia, Leslie, Tim, and I put on our suits and we headed
into the pitch black water. As we looked up, I had never seen the stars so
bright. There were so many it was hard to pick out the normal constellations
because they were lost in a sea of brilliant spots. After seeing such an amazing
thing, we found that our only response was to worship. So, floating on our
backs we sang song after song proclaiming our God as God of the Universe, maker
of heaven and earth. As we pray and sang, we saw shooting star after shooting
star fly across the sky. It was absolutely incredible and something I will
never ever forget.

But, the next day I said so long to Africa and boarded a plane back to
Asia.
