A few weeks ago was training camp for my squad. It is something that I am still processing through. However, here are some of my thoughts about the week.
1. While I hoped to make some friends within my squad, I did not realize how quickly squadmates would become family.
2. Freedom that comes from Christ is something that I had experienced before but not quite like at training camp.
3. I had heard from others that at training camp we would eat a lot of rice and we really did eat a lot of rice!
4. While I knew some aspects of the week would be challenging, I did not realize how much I would learn about leaning on God and my squadmates.
5. I figured at camp we would not sleep much but I was suprised by how much sleep one can get on a school bus!
6. While I had experienced over 300 people worshiping God together, I had not experienced over 300 freely dancing in worship to God.
7. I had experienced community that was centered in Christ but to actually spend a year living in community with my squad is something that I am looking forward to.
Even though training camp was challenging and I still have a lot to learn I feel that with God and my squad I am ready to go on this journey.
Now what is left is to pack for eleven months…
